SOMERSET RIDERS IN THE POINTS - UPDATED

Saturday May 05, 2018
Richard Lawson remains on course for a cup double after steering Lakeside to a 103-76 aggregate victory over Ipswich in the Championship competition, on Friday night.

His Rebels team-mate Charlie Wright was a busy man for Sheffield on the same night with the Tigers using rider replacement as cover for injured Kyle Howarth at Glasgow. Wrighty had a full quota of seven rides scoring 14 points, all after a first outing zero. His three wins and tactical substitute second place and a penultimate ride third place was the lions' share of the points for the Steel City club in this clash of Tigers as the home side came out 53-37 winners.

It was a solid night too for Jake Allen as he roared his way to a paid 17 return for Scunthorpe in their trouncing of Redcar. Allen dropped just one point to an opponent in his six-ride stint, Mikkel B Andersen headed Allen home in heat 14 to not only ruin the Rebels' number two maximum aspirations but also reoord the only race win for the Bears on the night.

Bradley Wilson-Dean made his debut for championship side Workington against Berwick, scoring 4+1 but suffered a knee injury in his final ride and will therefore miss Saturday's return at Berwick.

The Rebels return to action on Monday in an afternoon meeting at Rye House (3pm) see story for further detals
